We are given a polynomial f (x) := f (x1, . . . , xn) in k[x1, . . . ,Xn] of degree d ≥ 1, and we are given a second polynomial g(X) := g(x1, . . . , xn) in k[x1, . . . , xn] of degree e ≥ 1.
